I use sterling silver wire and silver or gold over copper wire when creating most of my jewelry with the most durable coating on the market and will withstand plenty of general wear.
Keep in mind that extended periods of direct sunlight and/or water/humidity exposure may weaken the coating and cause it to become faded/discolored.
Be kind and gentle to your wire jewelry and it will stay beautiful for many years.
